Damen Naval received an important visitor deserving a special flag to be raised in front of the Vlissingen head office. On 29 August, US ambassador Shefali Razdan Duggal paid a visit to get better acquainted with Damen Naval.

She was welcomed by Director of Corporate Strategy & Innovation Richard Keulen, Commercial Director Harm Kappen and Mayor of Vlissingen Bas van den Tillaar. During a short tour of the central hall of the monumental office, two of the most important projects were highlighted: the F126 frigates for Germany and the Anti-Submarine Warfare frigates for the Netherlands and Belgium. This was followed by a working lunch where various topics were discussed.

“In an open and informative discussion, we were able to explain our pivotal role as national OEM in our national and EU partner naval programmes such as ASWF and F126,” says Richard. “We also explained our long-time cooperation with US partners, for example for parts of the weapons packages, and showed our broader Damen involvement in maritime projects in the US. We thank the US ambassador, her staff and also the Mayor of Vlissingen for their visit and keen interest.”
